The annual Shipping Conference organised for the 4th year by Aegean College Piraeus was very successful.
The theme of this year’s conference was “Shipping in times of crisis“.
On Monday, May 16, in a beautiful opening ceremony at the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Minister of Shipping G. Plakiotakis, the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry V. Korkidis, the President of the Attica Region G. Patoulis, representatives of the Municipality of Piraeus and numerous representatives of the shipping industry.
Among other things, the Minister of Shipping spoke about the significant impact that the war in Ukraine has had on the global economy before our world has even emerged from the devastating consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, while all the guests emphasized the crucial role of education in the development and training of young executives.
Students had the unique opportunity to get in touch with prominent personalities and executives of the Greek shipping industry and to attend discussions on current developments and the future of the shipping industry.
The way technology is transforming shipping, crew management and the challenges of shipping companies during the Covid-19 pandemic, fluctuations in freight rates and fuel costs during the war in Ukraine were some of the topical issues discussed by high level professionals.
