The students of the Biomedical Science programme of Aegean College, visited the “Science & Technology Exhibition at the Eugenides Foundation“, on Saturday 24 February 2024. There, they had the opportunity to interact with the interactive exhibits of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Robotics, thus enhancing their exploratory learning and critical thinking.
They assembled the building blocks of DNA and proteins, made molecular models and created chemical compounds with the elements of the periodic table to study their properties.
They also became familiar with fundamental laws of physics and mechanics through experimentation with electromagnetic radiation, sound waves, light and the conversion of renewable energy sources into electricity. They were challenged by solving mathematical puzzles, playing chess and exploring the IT and robotics exhibits.
Incorporating both this STEM approach, and the ongoing effort to utilize STEM education, into the Biomedical Science undergraduate curriculum seems to yield positive results in students’ understanding of complex concepts in a simple, enjoyable and experiential way.
