A proud moment for the new graduates

The 1st Aegean College Graduation Ceremony in Thessaloniki held with great distinction

With great distinction, emotion, and many memorable moments, the 1st Aegean College Graduation Ceremony in Thessaloniki was held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall. The event marked the completion of the academic journey for hundreds of students and the beginning of a new chapter filled with professional opportunities, ambitions, and creative growth.

Graduates from the University of Essex and St Mary’s University Twickenham London, along with a total of 1,500 guests—including representatives of the political leadership, international universities, the business community, and members of the academic world—highlighted the unique character and strong momentum of the Graduation Ceremony as an institution.

The ceremony opened with a welcome address by the CEO of the Omiros Educational Group, Ms. Konstantina Makryplidi, who congratulated the graduates and emphasized the importance of continuous development and high-quality education.

A special honor for the event was the presence and address of the Honorary Consul of the United Kingdom in Thessaloniki, Ms. Maria Tsakali, who highlighted the importance of international academic collaboration and the benefits it offers to graduates.

This was followed by addresses from the Deputy Minister of the Interior responsible for Macedonia–Thrace, Mr. Konstantinos Gioulekas, and the Member of Parliament for Thessaloniki, Mr. Dimitrios Kouvelas. The series of remarks concluded with speeches by the keynote speakers:

  • Eftychis Bletsas, graduate of the School of Computer Science at the University of Essex
  • Dimitrios Bourlivas, Founder & CEO of Armatura

Mr. Eleftherios Saitis, Chairman of the Board of Intercomm Foods S.A. and Kronos S.A., concluded the series of speeches, emphasizing the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship.

The ceremony concluded with the conferral of degrees from the University of Essex, in the presence of Dr. Annecy Lax, Dean of Partnerships, and Dr. Konstantinos Kalliris, Director of Partnership Relations, School of Arts and Humanities, who encouraged graduates to continue confidently on their successful path.

The 1st Aegean College Graduation Ceremony in Thessaloniki was a special occasion to celebrate the academic excellence, dedication, effort, and talent of its graduates, while also highlighting the high standard of education offered by the College.
