More than 600 graduates from the University of Essex and St Mary’s University, Twickenham London (MBA), along with over 4,000 guests—including representatives from the political leadership, international universities, and the business world, as well as members of the academic community—highlighted the unique character and growing impact of the Graduation Ceremony.
Graduation 2026 was held in two consecutive ceremonies in the prestigious “Christos Lambrakis” Hall of the Athens Concert Hall.
The first ceremony began with opening remarks by Dr. Grigoris Risvas, Academic Director of the College, followed by a welcome address from Mr. Nikolaos Makryplidis, President of the Omiros Educational Group. He congratulated the graduates and emphasized the importance of lifelong learning and high-quality education.
A special honor for the College and its partner British universities was the presence and address of His Majesty’s Ambassador in the Hellenic Republic, Matthew Lodge. Speaking to the graduates and their families, he highlighted the value and benefits of international academic collaboration.
Next, an address was delivered by Mr. Stavros Kalafatis, Deputy Minister of Development responsible for Research and Innovation, followed by Mr. Georgios Xiradakis, CEO of XRTC Business Consultants, who concluded the series of official greetings.
The ceremony then moved on to the presentation of the Academic Excellence Awards, beginning with former international footballer Mr. Angelos Charisteas, a graduate of the MBA in Marketing from St Mary’s University (Twickenham).
The Academic Excellence Award was then presented to Mr. Konstantinos Tziavas, a graduate of the Biology program, by Ms. Anastasia Andritsou, Director of the British Council.
The ceremony concluded with the conferral of degrees from the University of Essex, in the presence of Professor Larra Anderson, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education), who encouraged graduates to move forward with confidence in their continued success.
The second ceremony opened with a welcome address by the President of the Omiros Educational Group, followed by inspiring speeches from Mr. Dimitrios Matthaiou, CEO of Arcadia Ship Management and President of the Green Award Foundation, and Mr. Theodoros Spiliotis, author and seasoned professional in the fields of technology, marketing, and sales.
A highlight of the evening was another Academic Excellence Award, this time presented to Ms. Eleni Tselenti, a fourth-year student in the BSc Sports Science with Physical Education program.
The Aegean College Graduation Ceremony 2026 was a special occasion to honor the academic excellence, dedication, effort, and talent of its graduates, while also showcasing the high standard of education the College provides.
