Psychology Meets History in London

A Journey Full of History and Inspiration

The Students of Psychology Science in London: Exploring the History of Psychology

The students of BSc (Hons) Psychology Science programme of the School of Human Sciences of Aegean College took a unique trip to London, which combined learning with the historical exploration of psychology. As part of the educational trip, the students visited two important locations of interest, connected with the history of psychology and psychiatry.

Visit to Sigmund Freud's house

Visiting the final residence of Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis, was a moving and educational experience. His residence in Britain is a significant monument, bearing the stamp of Freud’s work and his influence on the field of psychology.

Visit to the Bethlem Royal Hospital, the first Psychiatric Clinic
The students also visited the Bethlem Royal Hospital, the world’s first psychiatric clinic, which has played a pivotal role in the development of psychiatric science. This visit provided the students with the opportunity to learn about the history of the hospital, its development and its contribution to mental health.
The travel experience was a unique opportunity for students to explore the history of major figures and institutions that shaped the field of psychology, as well as enrich their knowledge in real historical context.
